This droid is owned by Dafydd, and was built with the specific purpose of testing the designs of the project modules.
Construction began on this droid in the summer of 2003, when the positive decision was made by Dafydd to revive the Open Automaton Project (which had been languishing since February 2001), and get a working robot ready for the Seattle Robotics Society Robothon in October 2003.
With just a few months before the self-imposed October deadline, work on the project hardware and firmware modules was fast and furious, and took up almost all of Dafydd's spare time. The design-build-test-debug sequence was repeated relentlessly for each of the seven custom hardware modules, and final assembly of the prototype took place just a couple of weeks before the Robothon.
